Bojnurd Iran

The city is the capital city of North Khorasan province, which allocated the north and central parts of the Khorasan province to itself. It is 701 kilometers from Tehran. Bojnurd city is located on a hill with an elevation of 1,070 meters above sea level. It has an area of 36 Km2 (14 miles).

History

The history of this city dates back to Sassanid era. In the post-Islamic era, The city was the homeland of several mystical figures, scientists, and Imamzadehs. Note that presence of a number of villages in the vicinity of this city that can be used as summer quarters have turned Bojnourd into a top tourist destination in Iran.

The city is noted for its multicultural background. Many people of Bojnurd city, speak at least 2 different languages including the Persian language, Khorasani Turkic, Kurmanchi Kurdish, and Turkmen. Intermarriage between the ethnic groups speaking these languages is common.
