Marvdasht
one of the most important counties of Fars province located in the center, 40K to Shiraz city, is an ancient of the history of Iran and the vast Persian Empire is Marvdasht. It hasa moderate and mountainous weather, and people who speak Luri, as well as Farsi with a dialect close to Shirazi. The city is known for housing some of the most important Achaemenid remains, valuable fruit gardens, and petrochemical plants. The city consists of five parts naming “Markazi“, ”kor”, ”Kamfirouz”, ”Seyedan“, ”Doroudzan”, 5 cities and 15 rural districts.
History
The history of this area, however, dates back to the 5th millennium BC. With such ancient history, it is natural that it has changed numerous times. The city is as ancient as the history of Iran and the vast Persian empire. It was in 1930s that a Sugar Factory was made here, and the previously deserted area became popular. Archeological excavations have shown that civilized people had already been living there for millennia when Darius chose the plains of mount Rahmat for his royal residence.
The archeological excavations of the area prove that thousands of years ago Marvdasht was chosen by Achaemenid Kings for construction of series of palaces and a royal city. The excavations of the Achaemenid sites had started for a while, and that increased the importance of this city. The results of excavations were the unveiling of Persepolis, Naqsh-e Rostam and Naqsh-e Rajab. With the development of the city and the completion of excavation, perfect opportunity rose for the Pahlavi government to boast the ancient history of Iran, and the modern financial prosperity.
Marvdasht Tourist Attractions
It is an agricultural center of this region. Tourist attractions such as Tange Bostanak or Behesht Gomshode, Dorodzan Dam lake, historical attractions such as Persepolis that is one of the most magnificent historical complexes in Iran, Naqsh-e Rustam, Naqsh-e Rajab and etc., have given this county a special importance.
Weather
It is one of the northern cities and also counties of Fars province. The city is located 45 km north of Shiraz and has an altitude of 1620 meters above the sea level. This city has a cold weather in the hilly areas and moderate climate in other regions.
