Qamsar Kashan

One of the county that is located in a very dense green valley with an almost length of 9, and a width of 4 km, with various trees and shrubs of rose flower called Qamsar in Kashan. It is situated 25 Km south of Kashan, which is known because of its wonderful Damask rose garden and the amazing rose water. Also, this county known in the foreign countries for rosewater and has a global reputation. Therefore, it has very great weather in the day and moderate weather at night. Beside the famous rose water, you can enjoy from the organic fruits like mirabelle plum and special local souvenir called Joze Ghandi which is made of peach dried with sugar, cardamom, sugar, and almond powder. In the past, rose water was used in traditional Iranian medicine to treat rheumatic heart disease, to strengthen gastric nerves, and to treat some forms of headache and sickness. Most European cologne companies for making perfumes use essential oil of this city flowers, which has caused the perfume and rosewater to remain a name product for a long time. In the reputation of the city, it is enough that the house of God, Kaaba is washed every day with the pure Mohammadi essential oil of this city. Rosewater is made from the sweet-smelling Mohammadi Rose. It is used in various dishes and sweets and also used as a perfume by Muslims.

Although production of plant essence has a long history in Qamsar of Kashan, traditional rosewater production machines are used to produce rosewater for commercial purposes. Earlier, rosewater was produced from small distillation vessels for local use. Rosewater production has been in custom since ancient times and led to the prosperity of copper, glass making and packaging industries. Most of the local products are sold in other parts of the country and have held their ground in contemporary times.

 

The Rosewater Festival in Qamsar

The season for picking rose and preparing rosewater is from early May to mid-June, that festival of Rose and Rose Water is being held in this small city annually. Many tourists from different parts of the country and abroad visit it, the hub of Mohammadi Rose in Iran. Local people collect roses, boil them in special pots and collect their water in beautiful containers. The collection ceremony traditionally begins long before sunrise – to preserve the unique aroma of the flower. Many families have their own manufacture in the form of a small distillation apparatus for producing rosewater. Residents of the region are immensely proud of their production: rosewater is not only exported to various parts of the world. Rose water is made from a very sweet smelling kind of roses and is used in different traditional dishes and sweets. Although some modern mechanized factories are constructed, but still a large part of this, let say industry, is done traditionally. And this traditional roses water production which is established at homes or gardens attracts tourists to Kashan.
The technology for producing rosewater and essential oil has remained almost unchanged for 2500 years of existence. Harvested flowers are placed in copper pots with added water and then sent to an oven made of brick and cement or stones and mud. Then a strong fire is kindled, and while water boils, rosewater steam is released with essential oils, which condenses and flows through aluminum pipes into a special container. The entire distillation process takes about 4 hours, and as a result they get 40 liters of rosewater out of 30 kg of flowers.
