History of Borujerdi House

The house belongs to the bride of Boroujerdi Family. She was the daughter of the wealthiest Tabatabaei family, who owns the most luxurious house in the city. The Tabatabaei Historical House is the most popular historical attraction in Kashan. As their house was the most unique house of the city, the family accepted the proposal of Boroujerdi family with one exception: They should make a house for the bride which was as great as her home. Therefore, Boroujerdi family, who was a well-known and wealthy merchant, asked Ustad Ali Maryam, the architect who built the Tabatabaei House, to build a house as beautiful as it. The house was built in 1857. However, it is not as big as the Tabatabaei Historical House, but it is still one of the most beautiful and popular houses of the city.

Architecture

According to the traditional Iranian architecture, the house consists of interior and exterior area. All people and guests could enter the exterior area, but only households had access to the interior section. This fact is true about all Iranian historical houses.

This house is built adopted with climate like all historical houses in Iran. Since Kashan is located in a warm and dry area, it is very important for the houses to be damp and cool specially in summer. For this purpose, the architect due to the sun and deployment of a basement, windcatcher, garden, summer and winter mansion and other Iranian architecture techniques, has been able to naturally provide a pleasant climate.
