Darakeh

One of the most and oldest Tehran villages that you should never lose sight of it, and which is located in the north of Tehran city along a gushing river is Darakeh. This village, at 1700m elevation and just north of the notorious Evin Prison, is one of Tehran's most pleasant urban escapes.

Description

It is a popular hiking area that attracts many tourists. People and tourists from other parts of the country go to this place for recreation and climbing. The people of the capital city are always involved with the polluted air, so if they have the opportunity to get away from the Tehran, it is surely one of the main tourist destinations for using clean air and beautiful mountainous nature. However, some people replace the smoke exhaust of cars here with hookah smoke!

From the cluster of riverside restaurants near the central car park, paths head up through Darakeh village and connect with hiking trails across and up the mountainside. The main route starts from this resort to Palangchal or Tochal 5th Station. It's possible to hike from the village to Station 1 of Tochal Tele cabin and beyond. Good summer weather at the foot of the towering Alborz Mountains, spectacular places with easy access, that can be used for light trekking and excursions are some of its features.


History

This resort dates back to the 5th century AH. People living there are from the descendants of “Imamzadeh Seyyed Mohammad”- one of the descendants of “Imam Hussein”. The discovery of the graves, the old tanners, the crushed stone masonry during the excavation and the construction of the Imamzadeh and also the flow of water in the north of the holy tomb confirmed the primary habitat of the inhabitants of the village near this place.


Resort's Houses

Locals has built their houses along with the river. In continue, there is Evin Valley. It has made a stairway space and natural pool beside the river. Traditional and modern tea houses and restaurants have been built along the river through time. Today the river is known as “Haft Hoz” (Seven Pools) among tourists and locals.

 

Opening hours

The opening hours of this rsort are every day 24 hours of 7 days of week. But i recommend to visit it in the afternoon and you can take the most beautiful pictures.
