Dolat Abad Garden

In the list of Iranian gardens that are well- known in the world, we have chosen to talk about one of them that it is the highest brick wind catchers is called Dolat Abad Garden. It is 7,000 square meters of heaven on earth. The Dolat Abad Qanat was specifically dug to supply water for this garden.

History of Dolat Abad Garden

The garden is a famous complex of Zand Dynasty and its instruction dates back to 1160 HA, which was built by the order of Mohammad Taghi Khan Bafghi, the governor of Yazd. Karim Khan Zand, the founder of Zand dynasty made this garden as his main residence for a considerable period in his reign.

It is famous because of its wind-catcher with 33.8 M height and because of this well-known feature, Dolat Abad Garden was registered in UNESCO World Heritage in 2010. The main structure and building of the garden is called The Hashti Pavillion (“Hasht” means eight in persian). The ceiling is designed with delicate carvings, using a balance of ginger and white colors. Like most ancient residential constructions in Yazd, the pavillion is equipped with its own cooling A/C system. 


Description

It has a Persian architecture consists of a pavilion that was built according to the original Iranian architectural style, Long pool in the middle of garden with the tall cypress trees leads to the main entrance, also there are beautiful grape and pomegranate trees behind those tall trees. The Behesht-Aeen Pavillion, used in the cold months, is also a pleasant sight to see. Families to migrate between structures during hot and cold months in order to maintain a stable internal temperature. Along with the Behesht-Aeen Pavillion, there is also a separate Harem, one of the more recent additions to the entire complex.


Qanat

The ruler of city had a Qanat made and named it Dolat-Abad. The Qanat was later used in creation of the garden. The existence of Dolat Abad Qanat is of paramount importance. It is comprised of a network of smaller Qanats and is estimated to be more than two hundred years old. It is 7,000 square meters of heaven on earth. The qanat was specifically dug to supply water for this garden.
