About Heyran village

The word Heyran (surprised) is really a good name for the village because the weather and the nature really surprises every tourist. When you visit Heyran make sure to head to traditional restaurants and also do not forget to buy some of the natural honey. Heyran Tourist Region is situated 30 kilometers west of Astara in Gilan Province.

The Heyran Pass is one of the most important tourist attractions of Heyran Villages and is located on the road connecting Astara to Ardabil. This village faces the forest-covered mountains on the one side and a valley on the other side where the Aghchai River flows and forms the border between Gilan Province and the Republic of Azerbaijan. This Pass is covered by fog most of the time although it is not of very great height (the highest point is about 1500 meters above sea level). The main reason for this permanent fog cover is the moisture coming from the Caspian Sea.

Souvenirs of the village

On the way to the road, you will see a lot of souvenirs for many local shops, whose colors and smells make you tempted to buy. Our suggestion is to capture this temptation and try the taste of dairy, honey, wild hazelnuts, red raspberries and local lemons.
