Mofakham Mirror House

Sardar Mofakham House, was belonged to Sardar Mofakham, that is one of the officils in the late Qajar period, that lived in Bojnurd. Mofakham Mirror House, pavilion, Howskhaneh, and portal lie in a beautiful garden in Bojnurd, North Khorasan Province. As the name indicates, this building boasts of its mirror work and tile design.

History of Mofakham Mirror House

This mansion was built at the instigation of Yar Mohammad Khan Shadlu, known as Sardar Mofkham, in 1300s AH during Nassereddin Shah's reign. It was where Sardar Mofkham and his family lived and hosted state guests and politics.This house was given to Public Health Administration by Sardar Mofkham's heirs to be used as a hospital.

In 1991, this house was given to the Cultural Heritage Organization. Mofakham Mirror House became the Museum of Anthropology and Archeology of Bojnord County after some slight repairs and modifications. The mirror house's spectacular architecture with its colorful tile-work can absorb you in the world of history.


Architecture

This ancient Mirror House designed by Mirza Mehdi Khanshaghaqi, known as Mutahan al-Dawlah who was one of the first Iranian architects graduated from the Paris School of Architecture. This mansion is a two-store building with nine chambers and a height of 10 meters. On the second level, you will see a hall with an area of 24 square meters that all the walls and ceiling decorated. The etymology of this mansion, due to the ornamentation of the hall. The doors in this level have made of Sandalwood and decorated with bone.
