Pottery Museum of Tabriz

Near Blue Mosque, there is a large building with a lofty porch that is consider as one of the oldest Iran’s first museum and is known as Pottery museum of Tabriz. It is an art museum in Tabriz, Iran, which established in one of the historical houses of the city known as Sarraflar’s house, which belongs to Qajar era. It is the only alive pottery museum of Iran; visitors can see the process of making pottery in this museum.

Description

The history of this house dates back to the Qajar and Pahlavi period and it belonged to the novel family of Sarafdar from Alavi House. It has an original Iranian Architecture including a basement, upper floor and a balcony which is based on two columns with beautiful stuccos. Cultural Heritage Organization of East Azerbaijan province bought and repaired this valuable house and changed it to the pottery training center. Since 1995, it has become a museum and has been opened to the public.

This museum is an art museum in Tabriz. In fact, if you want to see the most beautiful view of Pottery Museum of Tabriz, you’d better visit it in the morning. The first thing that attracts you at the entrance is the ceramic house number. After entering from a little door, white view of Alavi house will surprise you. The trees and beautiful blue pool in the yard are eye-catching. This museum of Tabriz was designed by the French architecture, Andre Godard, and was built by Iranian artists. In the basement, along with a small restaurant, there are several tall bronze statues and in the garden, there are several impressive inscriptions and stone objects which mostly belong to Islamic era.

Gallery: a permanent gallery of Ostad Abbas Ghabchi, Ostad Ahmad Ghabchi and Ostad Farida Tathiree’s pottery artworks also the best artworks of other famous artists, Howz-Khaneh: a place for temporary galleries of artworks of artists, Shop and Training courses.
