Sultan Amir Ahmad Bathhouse

Iranians had bathhouse for more than 2000 years. By the Safavid era, which was the most prosperous era for architecture, there were 182 bathhouses in Iran. One of the traditional Iranian bathhouse is Sultan Amir Ahmad Bathhouse in Esfahan province.

Description

It is located in Kashan on Sultan Amir Ahmad Street off of Alavi Street. The name of the bathhouse is taken from Sultan Amir Ahmad Imamzadeh, which is a small mosque. It joined the list of Iran National Heritage in 1976 and made Kashan proud for owning this wonderful structure.

This is one of the nicest historical attractions famous for its architecture in Kashan. Sultan Amir Ahmad Bathhouse has delicately unique and beautifully decorated walls. History of Sultan Amir Ahmad Bathhouse

In the past, each city has five main elements, including mosques, bazaar, houses, baths and water storage, and therefore, Amir Ahmad bathhouse in Kashan is considered as one of the most important elements of the city. According to the texts of the various historical periods, in all Islamic periods, there were many public baths in cities, which were comparable in terms of numbers and importance to mosques.

The bath in the old days was not used just for bathing, they were also a place to spend leisure time, socializing, gathering, exchange, fatigue, making important decisions and even worship.


Architecture

This bathhouse has very eye-catching decorations and is considered as a unique bath. The lime and gypsum plaster of this building stare everyone's eyes. Lime cutting, the art of sculpture, embossed on a surface of lime, is one of the most beautiful decorations of Iranian buildings.

Turquoise blue and golden tiles, seven layers of plaster and special architecture, have made this bathroom as one of the most prominent baths in Iran. One the beautiful parts of Sultan Amir Ahmad Bathhouse is the roof. The roof is formed of integrated domes, on each one convex lenses are installed, not only proving the indoor with light but provide the privacy of bath takers by blurring the vision of an outsider who wishes to look inside.

 

Opening hours

This traditional bathhouse is open for visitors from 7:30 am to 8:00 pm. The bathhouse is one of the nicest historical attractions famous for its architecture in Kashan. It has delicately unique and beautifully decorated walls.
